Who We Are
Step One Halfway House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Phoenix, Arizona, providing licensed sober living for men ages 18 and older. We serve men working to overcome housing instability and maintain recovery, offering a place to live where dignity, personal responsibility, and mutual respect guide daily life.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help men establish stability and prepare for independent living through safe housing, meaningful connections, and opportunities to grow. We meet that mission by giving residents the structure and encouragement to work toward their goals, one step at a time.
Our Programs
Our sober living homes combine daily routines, recovery meetings, and shared household responsibilities with practical support, including meals, transportation, and employment assistance.
The i-Host program helps residents develop work habits, practice teamwork, and build skills through service and participation. These experiences support employment readiness and greater independence.
Peer support is central to our recovery community. Residents share lived experience, offer encouragement, and learn to ask for help while building relationships that support their recovery.

Our Vision for the Future
We envision a community where men facing homelessness and substance use challenges have access to housing, recovery support, and opportunities to move forward. Our vision is to strengthen the connections between sober living, employment, and long-term housing so residents can build on the progress they make at Step One.

Step One Halfway House provides safe, stable, and affordable transitional housing for men who have committed to living free from alcohol and drugs. Our goal is to maintain a respectful, structured living environment where each resident contributes to the upkeep and positive atmosphere of the home.
Step One Halfway House is a supportive housing community, not a licensed treatment provider. We do not offer clinical services or therapy. Residents are expected to remain alcohol- and drug-free during their stay and may be referred to outside resources when additional support is needed.
